Rhona spent a summer working for NB as an intern while studying Business and Marketing at the University of Edinburgh. Once she graduated, she came back to us to take on a long-term position as a Graduate Project Manager.
While studying for her degree, Rhona spent her summers building her experience in the industry. Her studies and experience have provided her with insight into the behind-the-scenes running of businesses and websites.
Born and raised in Shetland, Rhona has a keen interest in the success of local businesses and events happening in the isles. Outside of work, Rhona enjoys spending time with friends and family, walking, travelling and attending social events.

1. Tell us a surprising fact about yourself…
I was part of a trampolining club in Edinburgh for nearly three years, and even won silver for synchronised bouncing with my bestie.

2. What are your top three life highlights?
- My 18th birthday. It was in lockdown, and my family went to great lengths to make it special. It was a very different birthday, but so memorable and lovely.
- Visiting the Amalfi coast. I travelled to the Amalfi Coast in Italy with my boyfriend a couple of years ago, and it was just stunning. I would highly recommend!
- Graduating! After four years of studying, graduation day was a special day for sure.

3. Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity?
I’ve been told I look like Amy Adams, but I think that’s just because we both have red hair!
4. What did you want to be when you were a child?
I wanted to be a journalist for a while before I discovered business and marketing. I also wanted to be a vet when I was really small, but I don’t think I have the stomach for anything medical!
5. What are your most overused words or phrases?
I say quotes from movies and the media far too much, and then people don’t know what I’m talking about. In the workplace, probably “that sounds good.” It seems to be how I answer most statements!
6. What is the favourite aspect of your job?
I really enjoy seeing so many different projects and clients; no two days are the same. The mix of tasks is super interesting.
7. What tech innovation has made the most impact on your life?
Probably headphones, the ability to listen to music anywhere while doing anything is amazing. It’s also great for listening to voice notes from friends that they may not want others to hear…
8. What would you name your boat if you had one, and why?
I think I would name it The Ireada, as that’s my two grannies' names combined. I don’t know if either was overly fond of sailing, but I know they would protect me on the rough sea!
9. How would you convince someone to visit the place you love the most?
Well, I’ve been trying to convince my friends from uni to come to Shetland for years, and it hasn’t worked yet! My favourite view of all time is the waves at Eshaness, so maybe I should show them more videos of the sea being spectacular.
10. You’ve lived in Scotland while studying Business & Marketing and have moved back to Shetland. How are you finding working life at home compared to life on the mainland?
I’m loving it! I really missed the community feel while I was away, so it’s lovely to have that back. It’s also great to be working in a busy office and meeting more local people. I do miss Edinburgh though, but I’m going back for a visit soon which will be exciting.
